Chin people in nine townships of Chin State and outside Chin state formed Chinland Defense Force (CDF) on April 4thto protect peaceful protestors, CDM staff and innocent civilians from arrests and killings by the military dictatorship.

Although the CDF was formed since April 4th  “we could not release the statement about it due to certain circumstances. We will not operate the CDF in the form of an army. The main purpose for the formation of the CDF is to resist threats to public security and violence during the revolutionary period. We will mainly deal with those who disrupt the CDM activities and informers,” said a member of the Chinland Defense Force.

The CDF doesn’t recognize the military council and has designated it as a terrorist organization. The CDF will cooperate with the NUG and relevant organizations to root out the military dictatorship and exercise the Chin Act and Chin traditions and customs for the judiciary, legislative, security and executive affairs in Chin land.

A member of the CDF said: “The formation of CDF is based on all nine townships in Chin State. We have no leaders and will carry out activities through cooperation. This CDF is only aimed for the revolution period. It will be disbanded after the revolution period.”

In its statement, the CDF calls for the immediate release of the detained people in Chin Land area. It would carry out offensives against the members of the terrorist military council by different means if the council continues doing violent acts.
