Here are the voices of elected candidates in Kayah State.

Daw El Balin (Elected Kayah State Parliament candidate from the KySDP)

Education is the top priority. We need to promote the educational standard of the people. Only then can more people become leaders in their own region. I will formulate the education programme which prioritizes rural areas, in order to constantly promote the education standard in the long-term.

U Khin Maung Phyu (aka) Byar Du, Elected candidate for Kayah State Parliament from the NLD

In the previous five years I served as a minister. I mainly emphasized road transport and electricity. I will continue to try my best according to the duties assigned. The message I would like to send to the public is that the public on their part trusted me and voted for me.

I need to carry out my duties in return. I will engage with the people in my constituency as much as possible. The people said they were never the candidates after the voting. In some places, the people said they see mushrooms every year, but they don’t any MPs every year only in an election year.  I give my solemn promise to the public that I will be different.

Khu Michael Boyle (Elected candidate for the Kayah State Parliament from the KySDP in Shardaw Township)

As a local youth I will constantly press for the rights of indigenous people. I am committed to working for the mental and physical development of the people. I will try my best in parliament to fulfill the wishes of the people in Shardaw Township.

Daw Nan Htwe Thu, Elected Lower house candidate from the NLD

Mawchi region has a dense population with many migrant workers. The region suffers air pollution and has a weak garbage disposal system. There is a lack of a systematic garbage disposal system due to the higher number of migrant workers. I want to implement these measures to improve these issues first.

U Sai Hla Thein, the Elected Upper House Candidate from the NLD

In some areas there are restricted ones. I want to construct roads and buildings there. I will coordinate with the relevant Union MPs to build roads and buildings. Most of the people here are blue-collar workers. I will make all-out efforts for the rights of such people in parliament.

U De De (Elected Lower House Candidate from the KySDP)

I will work for the water access in Phruso Township. The second task is part of regional development to upgrade knowledge dissemination and education. The next is to increase our budget. The union government turns a blind eye to Phruso Township. I will share my knowledge with the public about budget allotment and budget spending. I will request a more adequate budget for the township.

U Aye Shwe, the upper house candidate from the USDP

The region needs the roads. I aim to upgrade the gravel roads into the tarred ones. As to the employment opportunity of youths here, there are many youths who have passed the matriculation exam. But the employment rate is low. I want to create suitable jobs for youths who have passed the matric exam. I will raise the question on the extension and upgrade of roads in parliament.

U Kyaw Than, Upper House Candidate from the USDP

Our party has made many pledges. The USDP has the policy to produce products through cost-saving methods. Our party has a plan to form a Ministry of Farmers Affairs if we can form the government. This would be a ministry that can constantly work for farmers. The party will urge the Union government to prioritize the plan that enables the farmers to get the right prices for the local products which are suited to our region.
