Bridge Damaged By Explosion In Ye Township

Some Mon State residents were unable to cross the Kalawt Chaung Bridge after bombs damaged part of it.

On Wednesday 13 October, explosions caused a six-foot-wide hole and an iron beam to detach from the bridge in Ye Township.

Local sources said authorities stopped allowing large vehicles across the bridge on the Ye to Dawei road after the attack at 1 pm.

A man from Ye town told NMG that they still allow small cars on the bridge.

Soldiers have been stationed on the bridge.

According to locals, on 11 October, the Ye People's Defence Force attacked the Burma Army's (BA) artillery battalion near the bridge with a grenade.

The civilian resistance group also destroyed several Mytel telecommunication towers and attacked a police camp and BA camp in Ye Township.

At the time of this report, it's unclear whether the group is responsible for the attack on the bridge.
