Bokepyin Airstrike Injures Father and Daughter

A father and daughter were injured in a junta airstrike on Bokepyin Township in Taninthayi Region that happened despite there being no fighting in the area.

At around 3:30 p.m. on 10 March 2025, a junta helicopter flew over Khechaung Village in Bokepyin Township and dropped two bombs, one of which exploded behind the village clinic.

A 40-year-old Khechaung villager said: “A helicopter suddenly appeared and bombed the village when no one expected it. The villagers panicked, scrambling to run and hide. It wasn’t just the bombs— we also heard gunfire, likely from the helicopter.”

A seven-year-old girl inside a house behind the village clinic was hit by shrapnel in both thighs during the blast. Her father was also injured, according to villagers.

There has been no fighting in Manoeyone Village Tract where Khechaung Village is located for months, according to residents of Khechaung Village.

But, since 2023, local people’s defence forces have have frequently closed the Myeik to Bokepyin National Highway near the Manoeyone Village Tract when they believe there is a risk of fighting or military tensions are running high.
