A high-level Bangladeshi delegation led by National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman held discussions with the United Council of Rohingya (UCR) on the current situation of Rohingya refugees and prospects for a sustainable resolution to the protracted crisis.
Mr. Rahman serves as National Security Adviser and High Representative to the Honorable Chief Adviser on the Rohingya Crisis. The delegation also included Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, along with other senior government officials, according to a statement by the UCR.
The meeting focused on the prevailing conditions faced by Rohingya refugees and future planning aimed at achieving what participants described as a sustainable and durable solution. Key issues discussed included refugee protection, regional stability, and long-term pathways toward resolving the crisis.
Members of the UCR presidential panel and executive committee attended the talks, sharing their perspectives and recommendations on Rohingya rights, security concerns, and long-term solutions.
UCR President Sayed Ullah emphasized the importance of unity among Rohingya leaders and advocates, calling for collective action to address the crisis.
“We call for the cooperation of all Rohingya leaders and activists around the world to work together for a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis,” he said.
As part of the visit, the delegation also traveled to the Camp-in-Charge office at Camp 4, where they met with Rohingya community representatives. That meeting was attended by RRRC Mohammed Mizanur Rahman and other senior Bangladeshi officials.
Participants said discussions centered on the current situation in the camps, protection concerns, humanitarian needs, and long-term prospects for Rohingya refugees. Community representatives reportedly raised issues related to safety, access to services, and uncertainty about the future, urging authorities to ensure that Rohingya voices are reflected in decision-making processes.
No specific policy decisions or timelines were announced following the meetings, and officials did not provide further details on follow-up actions.
In addition to the consultations, the delegation attended a match of the Rohingya Football League 2026, where officials observed the game and interacted with members of the refugee community. Officials said the visit aimed to highlight the role of sports and youth engagement in promoting social cohesion and positive activities within the camps.
