Armed men open fire in Homalin, one killed

A statement issued by Kuki civil society organizations (CSOs) said that armed men shot at a father and son in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region on May 23. The son was killed, and the father wounded in his arm.

Five armed men in mufti stopped a motorcycle in Otto village near Manli village, Homalin Township, Khamti District, Sagaing Region, armed men opened fire from behind when the motorcycle did not stop.

The deceased is 17 years old and his wounded father is at Homalin hospital.

Kuki Youth Network Chairman Say Gin said, “Shan National Army (SNA) has been operating in this area for about two years. There are no other armed groups in this area. So, we demand their leaders to investigate this case and find the culprits.”

Col. Se Sai Tun of SNA said, “We will investigate this case thoroughly from lower ranks to higher and we will take action accordingly and properly.”
