AA attacked military headquarters in Buthidaung Township

The Arakan Army (AA) attacked a military headquarters in Buthidaung Township on the evening of 20 September, destroying residential buildings and injuring two children, the Tatmadaw announced.

The AA launched four Type 63 107 mm rockets from a mountain range east of the headquarters and it happened at about 5 p.m. on Friday, the statement said.

“Four rockets were launched and three of them exploded. They shot from a long distance,” said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun from the Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

The Tatmadaw said that it was a malicious attack by the AA.

The Tatmadaw’s headquarters is located left of Buthidaung- Sai Din road, three miles east of Buthidaung Town.

The AA also attacked Tatmadaw troops positioned at a hill east of U Yin Tha village in Buthidaung Township, on 19 September, at about 11 p.m.

“A clash broke out when the AA attacked the hill east of U Yin Tha village. There was no report of casualties,” said Colonel Win Zaw Oo, head of the Western Command.

The AA’s spokesperson Khaing Thukha said that he could not comment about the fighting  when the DMG contacted him because he did not receive detailed information about the incident.

During the fighting on Friday, the Tatmadaw reportedly conducted air strikes using attack helicopters.
