The military junta continues airstrikes and internet shutdowns in conflict areas, and 94% of airstrike deaths in the past three months occurred in areas without internet, Myanmar Internet Project (MIP) said.
According to the statement of MIP, from January to March 2026, the military carried out 423 airstrikes, killing 728 people, including women and children.
It is clear that internet shutdowns are being carried out during airstrikes, and civilian casualties are very high.
“In high-conflict areas, airstrikes are being carried out intensively. At the same time, internet shutdowns are clearly being imposed. By restricting the flow of information and launching attacks from the air, civilian casualties are rising sharply,” the official said.
Among the dead were at least 107 women, 50 children, and elderly people, showing that civilians in areas with limited communication face the highest risk of injury and death.
Over the three months, Sagaing Region, Magway Region, and Rakhine State experienced the most intense airstrikes, while three incidents were reported in Mon State, according to the report.
Additionally, the destruction of essential facilities, including hospitals and clinics, has disrupted access to healthcare and education.
In April, airstrikes and internet shutdowns have continued in conflict areas. In Bilin Township, Mon State, an airstrike was reported in the first week of April, along with ongoing phone and internet disruptions.
As a result, displacement has increased around Bilin, with the KNU and local aid groups providing emergency assistance.
MIP said civilians in conflict areas are facing both communication blackouts and growing airstrike threats.
