5 Junta Soldiers, Including Deputy Battalion Commander, Killed in Dawei Fighting

On March 13, military troops clashed with People Defense Force (PDF) between Wadaw and Sin Phyu Daing villages near Thai border, Dawei-Htee Khi Road, Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, killing five military soldiers, including one deputy battalion commander, a source familiar with the PDF said.

The clashes took place between the 267th infantry regiment under the Military Council and Collarphoe group, the Karen armed group.

Five people, including a deputy battalion commander, were killed, three others injured, and some weapons, including one RPG, two 60 mm, four MA2 and other military accessories, were confiscated, the source said.

The locals said two civilians were killed and some injured in the fighting.

Following the fighting, military council troops were active on the Dawei-Htee Khi road and continued to inspect the travellers.
