Teknaf, Bangladesh : Diesel is now being smuggled to Burma from Bangladesh through the transit points by a syndicate, according to our staff correspondent.

Teknaf, Bangladesh : Diesel is now being smuggled to Burma from Bangladesh through the transit points by a syndicate, according to our staff correspondent.
 
It is smuggled from the transit point in Moulvi Bazaar and Wabrang under the union of Nila, Tekanf. Twelve persons are involved in the syndicate. They collect diesel from various shops and stock it. In the evening, they smuggle it to Burma through the transit points.
 
Yesterday, 36 liters of diesel was smuggled to Burma through the transit point of Moulvi Bazaar. The smugglers made a profit Taka 200 per liter, said a trader from Nila.
 
In return, from Burma , they bring Yaba tablets, longyies, pickles, batteries, Chinese blades and leathers among other goods through the transit points.
 
One year ago, one of the syndicate members Fakir Mohammed belonging to Wabrang was arrested by concerned authority and sent to jail. He died in the jail, said sources.
