Junta Conducts Airstrikes on TNLA Base

The Junta aircraft bombed a base of the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Mongmit (Momeik) township in northern Shan State, injuring three TNLA members.

A Junta jet fighter dropped a 500-pound bomb on a TNLA base, according to TNLA’s statement."The bombing occurred around 4:30 pm on June 9. Prior to the airstrike, the base was shelled by artillery fire three times, and then the Junta aircraft dropped a 500-pound bomb on it. The air assault took place between Pantin and Manpying villages”, TNLA’s spokeswoman Lway Yay Oo said.

He added, "Three of our comrades were injured in the attack and are receiving medical treatment. We have not received reports of clashes after the incident, and the Junta has not launched any further airstrikes yet”, she reported.

Between June 1 and 9, TNLA positions were subjected to at least 10 artillery attacks by the Junta. The Junta has occasionally targeted TNLA-controlled areas in Kyaukme, Hsipaw (Thibaw), Nawnghkio (Naungcho), Mongmit, and Mogok townships in northern Shan State with airstrikes and artillery barrages.

Lway Yay Oo criticized the Junta for disregarding the Haigeng Agreement, brokered by the Chinese government for a ceasefire, by attacking TNLA bases and encampments.

Locals have also reported that in recent days, the Junta has increased troop presence in Lashio and Muse townships in northern Shan State.
