Kanpetlet CDF Attack Regime Camp

Kanpetlet CDF Attack Regime Camp

A number of regime soldiers were killed after the Kanpetlet Chinland Defence Force (CDF) attacked their camp in southern Chin State, according to the resistance group that’s fighting to overthrow the regime.

“Our snipers killed five soldiers. We have not counted any other casualties, but there might have been more,” a CDF officer said. He explained that they shot at seven soldiers in one building and none of them left the building, so suspects they were all killed.

The group carried out the two attacks on the morning of 11 March after scouting the camp the night before.

The regime responded to the ambushes by firing 60mm mortars, RBGs and light weapons, but none of the Chin fighters were injured and they retreated after raiding the camp.

The officer said 70 soldiers and policemen were at a station in the centre of Kyatwee town where they dug bunkers.

About a third of the population has already fled the town in previous clashes and is living in displaced camps run by the Kanpetlet People’s Administration Committee.

The regime has imposed martial law in Kanpetlet Township and controls the road to Kyatwee, where there is also no telephone service.

In a statement, the Mindat CDF said a military convoy of 80 trucks was on its way from Mindat to Matupi and warned civilians to avoid the Kyauk Htu - Mindat - Matupi road. The convoy arrived at its artillery battalion in Kyauk Htu from Pakokku around noon on Monday and is expected to continue to Chin Hill.

Over 30 trucks of the regime drove from Kalay - Falam - Hakha town from 7 to 9 March.
