Myanmar junta troops kill civilian following Yangon explosion

Following an explosion near the Ward (7) Kamayut railway station in Yangon City’s Hlaing Township a junta military vehicle caught fire and junta troops shot and killed one person on 13 November.

A large bomb was detonated in front of Kamayut Railway Station on Baho Road at 7:25 p.m. on 13 November. The blast burned out a junta military vehicle and following the blast junta troops fired their weapons into the surrounding area, according to local residents.

A resident of Hlaing Township said: "The explosion was extremely loud, and the buildings also shook. On Baho Road, a military vehicle was burned. We heard that Junta soldiers were injured. That's why they fired [their weapons] in the area of the incident and a person was hit by one of their bullets. The injured junta soldiers were taken away in an ambulance. People living near the incident site were also detained by Junta troops.”

According to a local news source the junta vehicle was on patrol when it was hit by the explosion that also injured two junta soldiers.

According to another local news source, the injured junta troops were taken to a clinic in Hlaing Township where they received treatment.

Following the explosion, junta troops blocked off Baho Road in front of Kamayut Railway Station, where the explosion happened, and many junta troops searched the area. They found an unexploded bomb that they detonated in a controlled explosion at 9:05 p.m.

No defence force group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.

Also, on the night of 13 November explosions were reported in the Yangon City townships of Hlaing Thar Yar, Mingalar Taung Nyunt and Dawbon.
