Kalay PDF launches funding drive to pay for drone bombs

Kalay People's Defence Force (PDF) launched a funding drive on 23 August to raise enough money for its Technique and Drone Force to build 500 special air bombs to be used in drone attacks.

The Technique and Drone Force will make the specially designed bombs themselves and use them instead of the 40mm mortar shells and grenades that they have so far used in drone attacks.

A member of Kalay PDF's Technique and Drone Force, based in Sagaing's Kalay Town, said: "When we fight with junta troops drone attacks are the only way our PDF soldiers can gain the upper hand and control the ground. There is no need to go to the frontlines to fight the terrorist junta. This is the benefit of a drone attack. We urge people to donate and become part of the revolution. If all people are involved the revolution will succeed."

He explained that they needed the air bombs so that they could escalate their attacks on the Myanmar junta.

According to the Technique and Drone Force, factory-produced rifle grenades, like the ones they have been using in drone attacks, cost between 250,000 and 300,000 kyats each, whereas the air bombs that they will make themselves will only cost an estimated 18,300 kyats each. This means that 500 air bombs will cost 9,150,000 kyats as opposed to about 125 to 130 million kyats for the same number of rifle grenades.

People who want to donate money to pay for the air bombs should contact Kalay PDF's Technique and Drone Force via its social media page.
