Chin Resistance Kills Over 80 Regime Fighters

In just over a week, more than 80 members of the regime’s armed forces were killed in fighting with Chin resistance groups.

The Chin National Front (CNF), the political wing of the Chin National Army (CNF), recently highlighted the junta’s high casualties in Chin State from 27 February to 7 March in its battle report.

With the support of other Chin groups, CNA ambushed a Burma Army (BA) column of 200 soldiers travelling on the road from Falam to Hakha 15 times, killing nearly 70 fighters.

The CNA spokesperson, Salai Htet Ni, said that they’ve few casualties because of their “guerrilla tactics”. When they ambush a convoy, BA tries to secure the surrounding hills where they’ve already placed hidden landmines, he explained.

“Even though we’re outgunned, our patriotic spirit and skills on the ground are our greatest strength and much better than the Burma Army,” Salai Htet Ni told Khonumthung News.

In the attacks on regime forces on the road, they only lost three CNA fighters and one member of the Hakha Chinland Defence Force, he said.

Combined forces of CNA, CDF (Hakha), PDF (Zoland), Civic Defence Militia – Siyin, CDF (Hualngoram) also engaged in three skirmishes with Burma Army near No-2 Border Trading Zone in Falam Township.

At least 8 BA soldiers were killed in the clashes. There was no causality among the Chin resistance groups.
