Eight junta soldiers killed and two injured in Matupi Battle in Chin State

Fighting broke out in Matupi Township, Chin State for two days in a row, killing eight junta soldiers including a Military Council officer and injuring many others, according to a statement issued by the Chinland Defense Force (CDF Matupi) on January 5.

There were four clashes between the Military Council and the CDF Matupi on January 3 and 4. Two Military Council soldiers were also captured during the clashes, the statement said.

On January 3, five military soldiers were killed when local defense forces invaded a military base in Htale Bwe village on the Matupi-Paletwa road. At 5 pm on the same day, another clash broke out between Pha Naing and Nga Lai villages on the Matupi-Hakha road, and two military soldiers were captured alive.

At 6 am on January 4, a clash broke out in an area between Pha Naing and Ngalai villages on the Matupi-Hakha road, killing one military officer and two soldiers.

The fighting lasted for more than an hour, and the military soldiers retreated. Fighting resumed at 3 pm that day, and it could not be confirmed that there were any casualties amongst the soldiers.

Two military helicopters flew over Matupi township at around 1 pm on January 5 and landed at a military base near Matupi, local sources said.
