A pregnant woman was shot dead by members of the military council

Paung Township Locals told The Salween Times that a pregnant woman was killed in a shooting by military council members in The Ein village on the night of September 1.

At around 9 last night, a couple from The Ein village went fishing and were shot by members of the military council on their way home.

The shooting killed a pregnant woman and wounded her husband.

"I also heard gunshots last night. A pregnant woman died of gunshot wounds. Her husband was injured. It is late at night, so it is not clear why he was shot. "I heard that they were shot by the army because they went fishing, and when they returned from fishing, they were shot in front of their house," said a local.

It is unknown at this time what caused the shooting, but it is not clear where the injured man was taken.

The dead woman was survived by a 4-year-old child.

Recently, members of the military council have been conducting covert operations around The Ein village and some people have been arrested.

In the villages south of Paung Township, anti-military protests continue on a daily basis.
