Former USDP MP shot dead along with his aide in Sagaing Region

A former parliamentarian of Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and his assistant were shot dead in Sagaing Region on 14 July.

They were from Pan Nyo village in Myaung Township, and died on the motorway near Shwegugyi pagoda between Nabat and Kim villages around 1 pm.

A member of the local People’s Defence Force (PDF) said, “The former USDP’s representative for parliament was a leader of the pro-military assassination and informant group in this area. He provided information about the anti-junta movement of local people and assistance to the military. The villagers reported to us about their misconduct and we confirmed it after thorough investigation before they were killed.”

A local villager also said the 40-year-old USDP’s MP was a leader of Pyu Saw Htee set up by the military to crack down on the anti-coup movement.

The member of the PDF said, “Our mission is to root out military dictatorship. So, we will surely remove any informant to the military by extreme measures. We will fight to accomplish our mission.”
