At least five ethnic Rohingya were killed and several injured after troops clashed with the Arakan Army in Myanmar's conflict-torn western state of Rakhine, Reuters reported.

Fighting broke out over the weekend after the Arakan Army attacked a military convoy passing Mrauk U.

Khine Thu Kha, the Arakan Army spokesman, blamed government troops for the civilian casualties.

A government spokesman said he could not comment, the Reuters report said.
