Bomb blasts near Ra Maung Bridge in Minbya Township

Three landmines exploded near Ra Maung Bridge in Minbya Township at noon on 14 August, a vehicle was superficially damaged, local sources said.

Gunfire also took place in the same location. Two artillery shells landed in a field near Naram monastery and another one struck a community hall in Kan Ywar monastery, local residents said.

“The building was slightly damaged by the shell. There are also bullet holes in the wall. One artillery shell landed near the building and made a big crater,” Kan Ywar Sayardaw said.

Colonel Win Zaw Oo, head of the Western Command, said that two landmines exploded near the bridge, but there was no gunfire.

“The two mines were detonated by remote control when a convoy had passed the area. I heard that passers-by got injured,” Colonel Win Zaw Oo said.

The AA announced that it attacked the military’s convey carrying military equipment at a location between Naram and Kan Ywar villages, Minbya Township.

The convoy include five vehicles, at least 30 soldiers from two vehicles were killed and soldiers from three other vehicles fired into all directions at random for about an hour, the AA said.
