Negotiations underway for release of workers arrested by AA

Deputy Minister of Construction, Kyaw Lin, said that they were negotiating the release of eight construction workers from Suu Htoo San Company who were arrested by Arakan Army (AA).

The workers were arrested while working on a road project connecting Paletwa, Chin State in Myanmar and Mizoram State in India and were now being detained at border camp on Paletwa-Mizoram border.

The AA arrested 13 construction workers from Suu Htoo Pan Company at the end of May this year on suspicion of being informers for the Tatmadaw (government troops), were released and the remaining eight are still being held.
