U Min Htin Aung Han will retain his position as a Mon State parliamentarian.

The Mon State committee of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) party dismissed a state parliamentarian from his post as a township-level finance officer and central executive committee (CEC) member.

According to the state’s NLD chairperson Dr. Khin Saung, the individual in question—U Min Htin Aung Han—will retain his elected position but lose his appointed ones.

“The NLD headquarters has dismissed him because of what he said in a meeting. He will still be an NLD party MP,” the chairperson told NMG.

U Min Htin Aung Han was previously appointed as Mon State’s electricity, energy and industry minister but was forced by the NLD to resign in May.

The NLD has not officially commented about this most recent dismissal as Mawlamyine’s finance officer and CEC member, but spokesperson Dr. Myo Nyunt said he would speak on the issue after consulting with the party and after an official report is put together.

“We cannot tell why this has happened at this time,” he said.

NMG tried to contact U Min Htin Aung Han, but he did not respond to requests for comment.

U Min Htin Aung Han ran as the NLD’s candidate for state parliamentarian in Mawlamyine Constituency 1 in Burma’s 2015 general elections.
