A total of 398 Myanmar migrant workers from Thailand have returned to the Karen (Kayin) State’s Myawaddy via the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge on June 21 and 22, according to Myawaddy Myoma Police Station.

A total of 311 people – 226 men and 85 women – arrived at the migrant worker office with 16 vehicles on June 21.

Fifty-eight men and 29 women arrived on the next day.

“No money has been collected from the returning Myanmar migrant workers. The administration, immigration, local police officers, and officials cooperated in inspecting them to check whether terrorists, culprits, and counterfeit money makers were among them or whether they brought drugs, arms, or counterfeit money and provided food, water, and necessary assistance,” Police Captain Min Ko, head of Myawaddy Myoma Police Station, told Hinthar Media.

Arrangements have been made to assist the migrant workers in returning home, he added.

Myanmar migrant workers have been returning daily via respective border points due to amendments made to the migrant workers’ law in Thailand.
