Vice President Henry Van Thio will open a ceremony on erecting a memorial stone to mark the 100th anniversary of Falam (Sim) tribe’s resistance against the colonial British army on February 2.

“The Vice President will open this ceremony. I have bought the land where the memorial stone will be erected. The organizing committee will try to preserve this area. We took responsibility for everything in order to accomplish this. It’s difficult to say the amount of cost in detail. Millions of kyats have been spent up to now. I’m doing this on behalf of all the Falam (Sim) tribe,” said Pi Levi Sap Nei Thang, director of I Love Myanmar.

The monument is erected in honor of Falam (Sim) revolutionaries who lost their lives in the resistance against the British army after the tribe was forced to build a road 100 years ago.

Vice President Henry Van Thio will visit the Chin State to observe the development tasks in the state. He will visit Falam during his trip and take part in opening the ceremony on erecting the centennial monument of the Sim tribe.

Some Sim tribe members from various regions will come to Falam to attend this ceremony.

The monument will be built on the circular road in Falam.
