The Mon State Chief Minister Dr Aye Zan admitted the corruption of his government in some areas during a public consultation held on January 3 at Thuwunna Hall in Thaton Town, Mon State.

“We must admit that there are corruptions in some units of the Mon State government, even though we are trying to build good governance,” said the chief minister.

Although his government is striving firmly to build a clean administration with existing rules and regulations, corruption exists in some areas, he added.

“As you all know, corruption exists because one person gives [the bribe] and the other person take it. Both the giver and the taker are responsible. The giver wants to get his/her task to be completed within a certain time. He/she gives the bribe because he/she worries that the other person won’t work without receiving the bribe.” he explained.

Without public cooperation, the anti-corruption operation will not be working, he added.

The Mon State Chief Minister Dr Aye Zan, the Mon State Hluttaw Speaker Daw Tin Ei, state ministers, and MPs attended the public consultation.
