The Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) continued its second-day meeting in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday with discussions on approved agendas for the Union Peace Conference (UPC) –21st Century Panglong, formation of a joint committee for holding the UPC, and matters related to the number of participants to the conference, state media reported on 17 August.
Dr Salai Lian Hmung Sakhong of the Chin National Front was quoted as saying that the UPDJC reached an agreement on holding a national-level political dialogue covering regional and ethnic matters shortly after the planned Union Peace Conference.
It is hoped that NCA non-signatory groups would take part in the conference and sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement after the conference which will help participants to prepare for the next conference.
