Fierce clashes erupted as junta troops stationed in Taingen Village, Tedim Township in northern Chin State, advanced towards Falam Town, Falam Township in the same state, according to Chinland Defense Force–Civic Defense Militia Siyin (CDF-CDM Siyin).
On November 23, the junta carried out airstrikes around Taingen Village to clear the way for its troops. The following day, large numbers of soldiers began moving out toward Falam Town.
“Fighting around Taingen is happening every day now. The junta is pushing forward along the road from Taingen to Falam, and their positions in Kale (Kalay) Town in Sagaing Region are firing artillery to clear the way for their ground troops. We’re trying to slow their advance with ambushes and landmine attacks,” said Salai Diki, spokesperson for the CDF-CDM Siyin.
The Government of Chinland and allied resistance groups jointly pushed back against the junta’s advance toward Falam, setting off fierce clashes.
Despite suffering heavy casualties from Chin resistance forces, a junta column of around 400 troops advanced from Tedim Town to Taingen Village and ultimately captured Taingen on November 9.
Another junta column advancing from Kale since late October reached Taingen in the second week of November. The two columns then merged and cleared resistance positions around the village, sparking ongoing clashes. Now, the combined junta forces in Taingen are advancing toward Falam Town.
Meanwhile, another junta column, having advanced from Kale Town and captured Waibula in Falam Township, has been pushing toward Falam along the border with India’s Manipur state, where it is also clashing with Chin resistance forces.
Fighting along the Kale–Taingen–Tedim Highway has displaced 2,000 to 3,000 residents from eight villages in Tedim Township, including Mualpi, Taingen, and Hiangzing, leaving them in urgent need of food and shelter.
Additionally, more than 20,000 people, including over 3,000 children, have been displaced in Falam Township by the junta’s attacks and are in urgent need of assistance.
