Two plantation workers were killed, and six others injured when junta aircraft bombed oil palm plantations in Chaunglamu Village, in Tanintharyi Region’s Tanintharyi Township on 24 March 2025.

At around 4:30pm on 24 March, junta aircraft dropped two 500-pound bombs on plantations owned by the Kyaw Maw - 19 company. The bombs hit a workers’ dormitory, killing two workers, aged 25 and 30, and injuring a further six, according to a worker who survived the attack.

He said to NMG: “There are about 50 workers living in the dorms. One of the buildings was hit hard, and two workers died. Now everyone’s really scared and has evacuated. The dorms are damaged too.”

Chaunglamu Village, which is in Myeik District, is not in an active conflict zone. Despite that, this most recent airstrike was the third to hit the village this March. Junta aircraft had already hit the village on 17 and 18 March 2025, fortunately there had been no casualties resulting from either of those attacks.
