Junta Artillery Injures Four in Hakha City, Chin State

Four people were injured by junta artillery fire at about 7:30 am on 28 October 2024 in Hakha City, the Chin State capital.

At around 7:30 am on 28 October junta troops stationed at the Rual U Cemetery on the outskirts of Hakha City engaged with Chin Resistance forces whilst junta soldiers stationed on Rung Hill just outside Hakha City provided artillery support.

Four of the artillery rounds they fired landed on Myo Thit Ward in Hakha City and injured four civilians.

A resident of Hakha City said: "Four people were injured by artillery shrapnel, but thankfully their injuries weren’t life-threatening. They had wounds on their backs and hands. Ambulances arrived quickly to take them to the hospital. When the fighting broke out around Rual U, junta troops started shelling as artillery support, and our family hid in the house out of fear.”

Artillery rounds landed near Carson Church in Hakha City’s Myo Thit Ward. They injured a 60-year-old man, his 50-year-old wife, a woman in her 30s, and a teenage girl. They also damaged two houses.

According to locals two of the injured were seriously wounded whilst the other two only suffered minor injuries.
