The resistance-run Thantlang Township Council, organized by the Chinland Defence Force–Thantlang (CDF-Thantlang), announced on March 1 that the capture, killing, and hunting of wildlife and wild birds in Thantlang Township, Chin State, are banned for a certain period, and that effective action will be taken against anyone who violates the ban.
The Thantlang Township Council has banned hunting birds and destroying bird nests throughout March, the breeding season for wild birds.
April 1 to June 30 has been designated as a wildlife sanctuary period, during which hunting and trapping are prohibited.
The Thantlang Township Council said the ban was imposed to prevent the destruction of wildlife, ensure safe breeding seasons, and preserve the ecosystem of the wilderness.
It also warned that hunting weapons would be confiscated from those who violate the ban, and that further penalties will be imposed.
The Thantlang Township Council has instructed people not to enter forests carrying guns, bows and arrows, or other hunting equipment during the prohibition period, warning that such weapons will be confiscated if found. It added that anyone who violates the rules and kills wildlife will face legal action.
The Thantlang Township Council emphasized that the ban will apply to all communities within areas under its control.
