The Vocational Training Center (VTC), an advanced technical and vocational school operating in Mongjaryang Town, under the administration of the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO), in Kachin State’s Bhamo District, has begun accepting student applications for the 2026–27 academic year.
According to information released by the school, prospective students must submit their applications in person at the campus between June 22 and June 27. Classes are scheduled to commence on July 6.
The VTC is offering three major programs: Civil Technology, Electrical and Electronics Technology, and Automotive and Machining Technology. Applicants may enroll in only one of the three majors, according to the admission guidelines.
In addition to their specialized fields of study, all students must take core academic subjects—including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer (AutoCAD), and Engineering Drawing—regardless of their chosen major.
The school will admit only 30 students in total, with 10 students accepted into each major.
The curriculum is structured into three levels, with each level lasting six months. Students will therefore undergo a total of 18 months of study before graduating. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded a diploma certificate.
Training will follow a practice-oriented approach, with 40 percent of instruction devoted to theoretical studies and 60 percent to hands-on practical training.
Applicants must have passed the matriculation examination and be between 18 and 30 years of age.
The admission requirements also state that applicants must demonstrate good moral character and be in good health. Preference will be given to unmarried young people.
According to a promotional video introducing the VTC, graduates may be offered employment opportunities after completing their studies. Students from all majors will also be eligible to apply for scholarships.
The school further stated that its teaching staff hold internationally recognized master's degrees in engineering from leading engineering institutions abroad.
The VTC was officially established in Mongjaryang on October 23, 2023, and is currently recruiting students for its third intake.
The school was established to train a new generation of instructors, expand access to advanced technical and vocational education, and equip students with practical skills that can support their families, communities, ethnic groups, and the country through professional expertise and vocational knowledge.
