Urgent support needed for vulnerable Rohingya families on Bhasan Char

The Government of Bangladesh and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) released a factsheet on 10 November 2024, regarding the Rohingya Refugee Response in Bangladesh. The factsheet provides statistics on the Rohingya refugee population on Bhasan Char island.

It emphasizes the urgent needs of the Rohingya population relocated to Bhasan Char, particularly highlighting the significant challenges faced by many children and families.

Currently, 56% of the 35,890 relocated Rohingya are children. Among them, 768 are unaccompanied or at-risk children who urgently need targeted support. An additional 828 individuals are single parents or primary caregivers, who also require extra assistance.

The infographic report also notes numerous cases involving serious medical conditions and at-risk older adults, underscoring the immediate needs of the population.

This infographic highlights the urgent need for comprehensive support across multiple sectors, including healthcare, child protection, and caregiver assistance.
