Two women killed, five people injured in recent junta airstrike in Kyauktaw

A day after the bombing in Rathedaung town of Rakhine State claimed the lives of 13 civilians, a junta airstrike on Kyauktaw resulted in the death of at least two civilians, according to residents.

Today, May 14, at 3:51 p.m., a junta jet fighter released a bomb on the southern village of Wra Ma ward, located west of Shwe Kyaung, Kyauktaw.

A witness who arrived at the scene reported that two women including a young woman were killed instantly in the attack, and there might be additional casualties. He mentioned that he witnessed five wounded men being transported for medical care.

"The deceased girl is thought to be more than 10 years old. Her physique was wholly deformed. Her body was dispersed everywhere. We still don't know who her parents are," he stated.

There are still more individuals who have lost their lives and sustained injuries. Over 10 homes were likewise damaged by bombardment.

The military council also conducted airstrikes on Kyauktaw on April 19 and 13. One innocent civilian was killed, and 24 more were hurt in the two occurrences.

The military council also released two 500-pound bombs on the old village of Tun Ra Wai in Rathedaung Township on the morning of May 13, resulting in the deaths of 13 civilians, one of whom was a two-year-old child, and injuring over 20 others.

These assaults are occurring during the junta's unilateral ceasefire announcement from May 1 to May 31.
