Two former Ministers for Information detained at Naypyidaw Military Headquarters

Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint and Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun are being detained at the Naypyitaw Regional Command, according to reliable sources.

After the military coup on February 1, the elected civilian government was also arrested, and Dr. Pe Myint, a former writer who became union minister, and Aung Hla Tun, a former journalist who became deputy minister, were also arrested and detained at Paung Laung Yeik Tha.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the military junta’s leader, handed over the post of Information Minister to one of his former colleagues, Chit Naing.

Later, Chit Naing was transferred to the post of Minister of the Union Government Office (2), and Maung Maung Ohn, a civilian from the rank of general, became the union minister for information.
