Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — A Burmese military airstrike on the town of Kyintali in southern Rakhine State's Gwa Township on June 20 injured two civilians and destroyed local property, according to local sources.
The attack occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. when a Burmese Air Force fighter jet dropped two 500-pound bombs near Science Road and Canary Road in Ward No. 2.
The victims have been identified as Daw Tin Tin Win, a 57-year-old woman and U Khin Maung Win, a 67-year-old man.
Both individuals are residents of Ward No. 2 and are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries. The blast also severely damaged two homes in the immediate area.
This incident follows a pattern of escalating military violence against civilian areas in the region. Just days prior, on the evening of June 17, heavy military bombing in Kyauktaw killed nine people, injured nearly 20 others, and devastated a nearby Rakhine village.
Over a two-day bombing campaign on June 14 and 15, junta airstrikes in Gwa Township killed two civilians and injured eight others.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. on June 15, a military jet fighter targeted Ryama Gyun Village (also referred to as Ramm Kyun). The aircraft dropped three 500-pound bombs, killing two residents instantly who were U Wai Lin (50 years old) and Daw Thu Za Moe (38 years old).
Eight other civilians sustained serious injuries during the attack.
On June 14 at around 12:00 p.m., a jet fighter conducted two consecutive bombing runs on Kyaukchun Village. The strike destroyed the home of U Tin Cho and killed a cow belonging to U Kyaw San Aung.
Military analysts report that these continuous strikes intentionally target civilian areas.
The junta is currently experiencing heavy losses as it attempts to recapture Gwa Township from the Arakan Army (AA). Following the AA's rejection of demands mediated by China to return the territory, the military has escalated its aerial campaign against local populations.
