According to the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), two 10-year-old children from a village in Loilinlay town, eastern Loikaw Township, Karenni State, were injured on October 3 due to artillery fire by the military junta’s troops.
The shelling was carried out by the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 530 based in Loilinlay. Among the two injured children, one sustained a shoulder injury while the other lost a hand.
A KNDF spokesperson stated that these actions are part of the junta’s continuous military movements as the planned election approaches, and he urged the civilians to prioritize their safety.
“The main thing is to take personal safety seriously and to follow our safety announcements,” said the KNDF spokesperson.
The statement also mentioned that on September 28, a 50-year-old civilian man was injured when the junta forces conducted a drone attack on a village in eastern Loikaw Township.
Furthermore, in villages around Taungsalone in Pekhon Township, located along the Shan–Karenni border, joint forces of the junta and the Pa-O National Organization (PNO) have deployed troops and carried out artillery shelling on nearby villages.
