Theinzayat police station, checkpoint suffer more attacks

The attacks occurred at the Theinzayat police station and military checkpoint on Than Bridge in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township on the evening of November 7, the locals told Than Lwin Times.

A combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked the Theinzayat police station around 6:30 pm on November 7 with heavy weapons.

Ko Aye Min Tun, the PDF official in Thaton District, said that the attack damaged a dormitory in the Theinzayat police station and that the casualties are still being investigated.

Moreover, the KNLA joint forces attacked a military checkpoint on the Than Bridge in Belin Township with mortar shells around 10 pm on November 7.

The two sides exchanged fire for nearly 20 minutes, and injuring at least two military personnel, the junta said.

Theinzayat police station and the Than Bridge checkpoint have suffered at least three attacks, with heavy losses on the junta side.

There have been frequent clashes in Kyaikto and Belin Townships under KNU-held Thaton District, with tension intensifying between the two sides.
