Tatmadaw Launches Offensive In Loikaw Township

The Tatmadaw launched an offensive against Karenni Army (KA) and Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) over the weekend, sealing off roads in Loilan Lay sub township, Loikaw Township.

According to the KNDF, clashes with the Burma Army (BA) occurred at least four times this Saturday, August 28. ”The fighting started after they launched an offensive against us,” said the spokesperson for the civilian resistance group.

KNDF and KA killed several BA soldiers and captured weapons and ammunition, the spokesperson said.

It is impossible for Kantarawaddy Times to independently confirm this information.

The KNDF reported that BA forces shelled villages with artillery, causing damage to houses in Kun Ner and forcing residents to seek refuge in the jungle in the sub township in Karenni State.

According to the KNDF, 4 clashes occurred on Saturday near Kun Ner in the morning and around Dor Ta Hey in the afternoon and evening.

On August 24, KA and KNDF killed 7 BA LID-55 soldiers and wounded at least 10 in an ambush near Kon Suit and Kyauk Gyi villages in Loikaw Township.
