Tatmadaw detains a teacher for IDP camp

A primary school teacher working in Pyin Chaung village, Buthidaung Township, has been detained by the Tatmadaw yesterday morning.

Ko Nay Zaw Linn, 27, was taken by a Tatmadaw troop while he returned to Kya Nyo Pyin village from Thayetpyin village, said U Thein Tun Win, assistant education officer in Buthidaug Township.

Officials from the Education Department went to No. 551 Regiment near Sai Din bridge in Buthidaung Township, where the teacher has been detained, and proved he was a teacher, but they responded that the detained teacher would be released after he was verified to have no connections with the AA, U Thein Tun Win said.

“We met with an official from the Tatmadaw. He told us that he was found to display suspicious behavior and officials seized his handset to check,” the education officer said.

The detained teacher is from Ma Nhyin Taung village and he is teaching children at an IDP camp in Kya Nyo Pyin village.
