Student Armed Force captures 14 soldiers from the Junta, including Major Zaw Htet Naung, on Arakan Mountains road

The Student Armed Force (SAF) revealed on November 28 that they had apprehended 14 junta troops, including Major Zaw Htet Naung, who had escaped from the conflict in the Western Command.

The soldiers were taken prisoner by the SAF after a confrontation on the Ann-Padan road on November 23.

Major Zaw Htet Naung's group, retreating from the battle at the 1-mile hill against the Arakan Army (AA) in Ann Town, was ambushed by an SAF and allied column. The following conflict resulted in the fatalities of two soldiers from the junta.

In the battle, the SAF took custody of 14 prisoners of war, confiscated two small firearms, such as a pistol, and ammunition.

The report mentioned that the escaping military group was chaotic in battle, withdrawing in confusion, as opposition forces maintained control of the region.

The SAF joined forces with the ACDF and Minbu District Battalion-2 in the combat operation. Per a SAF statement, the prisoners of war who were captured are currently undergoing medical care and are being detained following the protocols for prisoners of war.

A statement from the Student Armed Forces' Central Committee reiterated their commitment to fighting for oppressed people's liberation and the establishment of a new state.

The intensity of the fighting increased after the Arakan Army (AA) attacked the Western Command in Ann Town, seizing a minimum of 10 battalions.
