State Counsellor urges efforts to be stepped up for e-Government

Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi has urged to step up efforts for implementation of e-Government system to see sustainable development and poverty reduction in the country, Xinhua reported.

"Due to some improvements in online service, basis infrastructure such as communication and services, Myanmar's e-Government development index has increased from 169th spot in 2016 to 157th in 2018. But, more efforts are needed as we are still standing below other ASEAN neighbouring countries," Suu Kyi told the e-Government Conference and ICT Exhibition, launched in Nay Pyi Taw.

The State Counsellor also stressed that e-Government should have fair service access for everyone while it will provide smoother engagement between government and public, government and business circles and among governmental organizations.
