Soldiers shoot three youths dead at Mandalay guesthouse

Military Council troops allegedly shot dead three youths when they raided a guesthouse in Kan Thar Yar ward, in Mandalay’s Chan Mya Thar Si Township at about noon on 3 May.

“An informant gave the military information that an injured PDF group was staying in the guesthouse located on 58 th Street between alleys 107 and 108… Then, many soldiers raided [the guesthouse], they shot three youths and arrested one youth”, a source who lives in Chan Mya Thar Si Township told Mizzima.

According to the source, two men and one woman were shot dead by the military and another man was beaten and taken to the ward administrator's house.

“The dead bodies were left on the road and I saw the volunteer groups transferring the bodies to the hospital”, a witness said.

Though the source claimed that the military shot three youths at the guest house, some local people claimed that a total of five youths were shot and killed.

Mizzima has yet to confirm the exact number of dead and whether all the victims were PDF members.
