Six candidates who failed to submit their election expenses during the designated period in Thaton District in Mon State, according to the District Election Sub-Commission.

102 out of 108 candidates submitted their election expenses before the deadline.

U Thet Naing Oo, assistant director of the Thaton District Election Sub-Commission said: “The sub-commission shall submit the report to the UEC. The UEC will make direct contact with those candidates. They can submit their appeals to the UEC. The UEC will decide it in conformity with the law and bylaws.”

The UEC will announce the names of candidates who have not submitted their election expenses, at the respective election sub-commission offices.

According to the law, the candidates shall submit their election expenses during 30 days of the announcement of election results. Those who fail to submit their election expenses shall be declared disqualified from running again.

Under Section 88 (c) of the Election Law, the disqualified candidates shall not be entitled to compete in the by-elections held during the current tenure of parliament. They can run for the seats in the next general elections.
