Several residents were detained and taken away in two military vehicles during blockade and search operations conducted by the military junta in Duya village, Ye Township, Mon State.

According to eyewitnesses, on February 16th, junta forces launched large-scale inspections inside Duya village and along its entrance and exit roads. This development followed an attack by revolutionary forces on a military checkpoint at the entrance to Ahbaw village.

During the operation, young and middle-aged residents were arrested while traveling along village roads.

Family members said the detainees have been transferred to military battalions based in Ye. Although parents and village administrators attempted to negotiate their release through monetary arrangements, junta officials refused to accept negotiations for the detained youth.

“The parents went to Ye to request their release. They were told to return with the village chairperson and administrators. In the end, the parents had to come back without them. As far as we know, they have not been released yet,” a local resident close to the families said.

Most of those detained are from Duya village and nearby Hparlein, including plantation workers and ordinary young residents, who were taken away in two military trucks.

In the morning of February 15th, revolutionary joint forces attacked a junta checkpoint at the entrance to Ahbaw village. A second attack was reportedly carried out near the same checkpoint on February 16th while junta troops were conducting inspections.

According to sources close to revolutionary groups, three junta soldiers were killed and one injured in the clashes, while no casualties were reported among revolutionary forces.

Following the attacks, junta troops reinforced security along the Duya–Ahbaw road and intensified inspections and arrests, local residents said.

In recent days, the military junta has expanded troop deployments in several villages across Ye Township and increased the number of security checkpoints in the area.
