The ASEAN Special Envoy Mr. Prak Sokhonn's visit to Myanmar will be reviewed by the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST), Colonel Khun Okka, chairman of the Pa-O National Liberation League, told Mizzima on 22 March.
"He will go back on the 23rd. We will review [his visit] after reading their statement”, Colonel Khun Okka said.
The PPST is made up of representatives from the ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) who have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
During a recent meeting between the PPST and Japan’s special envoy, Mr. Sasakawa, in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Mr. Sasakawa said that the ASEAN special envoy should meet with the PPST, according to Colonel Khun Okka.
However, junta military leader Min Aung Hlaing did not allow the PPST to meet with the ASEAN special envoy, claiming that there was not enough time for a meeting.
Currently, the PPST is holding a two-day meeting in Thailand to discuss the outcome of the ASEAN Special Envoy's visit and other issues related to the domestic peace process, and to receive humanitarian assistance from the Nippon Foundation.
The actions of the United Nations, ASEAN and other International organizations will also be discussed at the meeting.
The ASEAN special envoy also met with the 88 Generation Student Leader Ko Ko Gyi on the morning of 22 March.
