NUG preparing to respond to airstrikes by military council

U Kyaw Zaw, spokesperson of the National Unity Government's (NUG) presidential office, told the Than Lwin Times that preparations are being made to respond to the military council’s airstrikes.

The military council army has recently begun conducting airstrikes in battles across the nation and has also been purposefully bombing people's homes.

KIO personnel and civilians were killed in mass by junta airstrikes on A Nang P area of Hpakant township in Kachin state and a school in Latyatkone village of Sagaing Region’s Dibayin Town.

The strategic measures are already underway to deploy anti-aircraft weapons in the most effective areas to respond to the military council's airstrikes, U Kyaw Zaw said.

The military council's airstrikes couldn't be prevented nationwide, but they would be made as efficient as possible, and efforts are being made to deploy later air-defense systems throughout the country, he added.

The fact that the NUG possesses anti-aircraft weapons but has yet to respond to the military council's airstrikes has sparked public anger.

The NUG reported that more than 200 civilians were killed due to military airstrikes across the country following the coup.
