Ethnic armed group leaders at the Maijayang ethnic summit have concluded with the agreement to continue searching for common ground among the three-sides represented in political dialogues—the armed groups, the government and Burma Army.
Summit’s media team member Nai Hong Sar explained that important issues such as political and security affairs will be prioritized for discussions within these three groups, and discussions with other peace stakeholders will encompass other issues.
The leaders decided five main policies to be discussed at future peace meetings would be about politics, social, economic, security, and the environment.
Seventeen armed groups convened in eastern Kachin State for the summit last week that ran for five days after being extended one day.
