Four main topics will be tabled during the Ethnic Armed Summit in Maijayang; the second largest city controlled by the Kachin Independence Organization in Kachin State.

After meeting in northern Thai city Chiang Mai yesterday, Pado Saw Kwe Htoo Win, vice chairperson for the preparatory committee and the organising committee, told reporters that discussions will be about establishing a federal democratic union, security and defence, political dialogue framework and pledges of the Panglong Agreement.

Fifteen representatives of each of the country’s twenty-one ethnic armed groups will be invited to attend the summit, which is scheduled for 29 July about a month before the 21st Panglong Conference.

Media won’t be formally invited but are welcome to attend providing they make their own arrangements. Journalists are expected to present solid media credentials.
