NLD must win 2020 general elections to continue future aspirations - MP

NLD party member and Yangon Region government Social Minister Naing Ngan Lin.

National League for Democracy (NLD) party member and Yangon Region government Social Minister Naing Ngan Lin said that his party needed to win the 2020 general elections to implement its future aspirations.

Minister Naing Ngan Lin was speaking at a function honouring donors in Yangon north district held on December 8.

“We cannot yet do real reforms. So we must win the 2020 general election to enable us to implement the aspirations and objectives of our leaders and real future aspirations of our party,” Naing Ngan Lin said.

In the recent 2018 by-elections for 13 vacant seats, NLD won only 7 seats and the main opposition party USDP won 3 seats.

In these by-elections, NLD lost 5 seats in ethnic inhabited areas and lost seats which were won by them in the past.
