Vice-Chairman 1 of National League for Democracy (NLD) party, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, said that Aung San Suu Kyi did not make a compromise with anyone including retired Senior General Than Shwe for the forthcoming 2020 general elections.

Dr. Zaw Myint Maung was responding to the news report ‘Aung San Suu Kyi and Than Shwe make deal for 2020 general elections’ which appeared in Myanmar Herald Journal on 9th this month.

Dr. Zaw Myint Maung said in Naypyitaw after NLD CEC meeting, “It is not true retired Senior Gen. Than Shwe and Aung San Suu Kyi have a deal. This is deliberately made to confuse and mislead. It is not true. We did not make any deal with anyone.”

Myanmar Herald Journal reported the news quoting Than Myat Soe, USDP party Central Training Institute 1st batch trainee, as saying retired Senior Gen. Than Shwe and Aung San Suu Kyi made a deal and agreed the next President would be serving Senior General Min Aung Hlaing after  retirement.

Dr. Zaw Myint Maung said to media, “This is not true. Myanmar Herald should verify and countercheck this news by asking our CEC members. This is not true. This is nonsense.”
